Spring Break Day 2

Alright well today is day 2 and we started kind of late from Fresno but we got out of there eventually. Made a pit stop at the King then ventured over to Bulldog Lane to check out Fresno State's football stadium aka Bulldog Stadium. (Big fan as a kid as I had an obsession with Bulldogs) Got some good pics with the help of a local law enforcement officer. Then took off for the 3 1/2 hour drive into LA.

Used the trusty iphone app made by Hotels.com and found a very cheap but nice place in Carson which is just south west of downtown LA. Traffic was smooth until we hit 405 then it locked up for a good 30-45 minutes, so not bad for LA traffic.
Got to the hotel around 4:15ish and quickly moved towards finding a place to eat. Buca Di Bepo was the answer! It is a nice Italian restaurant and this one was located in Redondo Beach. The waiter was very nice and gave us some tips on where
to go after dinner. Food was great but the family next to us was OUT OF CONTROL! Yelling in the restaurant and playing I Spy letting there kids play in the middle of the aisle way, very annoying but our server offset the negativity.

After getting my car back from the $2.50 valet service (never heard of that before) we proceeded to the pier where most of the pier scenes were shot in the OC. Very cool looking pier with fresh lobster and seafood shops as well as souvenir stores. Took a nice night time walk on the beach and you know me took plenty of pics and tried a couple different things to produce the shots I ended up with. Man LA nights are very do-able even with a cloudy day the night was still bearable without a sweatshirt. Topped off the night with some Cold Stone and then headed back to the hotel.

Tomorrow is Long Beach, Hollywood, and Dodger Stadium for the World Baseball Classic. Big Day!

Spring Break Day 1

SPING BREAK 2009! Me and Kristen are on a road trip for this years spring break activities as apposed to our New York Excursion last year. We originally planned to go down to LA and Disneyland then over to Peoria AZ for a Mariners spring training game(things have changed) and then back up to Monterey Bay for a day then San Fran for another. Ending our trip with her family in Sacramento for a couple days. I will try to post every night our daily happenings with a picture or two but try to forgive me if I fail. So after ten hours of pretty much straight driving we arrived in Fresno California last night at 10:30. We left Eugene at 10:30 so we were on time for the most part stopping to eat and for gas just twice. The drive wasn't all bad and now that I know how to drive my car up hills it was a lot easier.

I did encounter this annoying cop who decided to drive in the fast lane going barely the speed limit and of course you don't pass a cop especially on the left. Stopped in Woodland to get dinner and planned our stay in Fresno. Not the nicest place but can't complain for only $50. Beautiful sunset, but terrible Highway 99 at night.

When we got to the hotel room I went to look for spring training game tix but noticed that the WBC (world baseball classic) was being played at Dodger Stadium. I looked to see how much tix were and found front row seats in right field! We bought them so we cut out ten additional hours of driving, but are still going to get to see some Mariners in action (Johjima, and Ichiro).

Today we are going to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame and then see what else we might find to do in big ol' LA.

Thanks for reading hope you enjoy!

The Week in Review

Alrighty then, a week that started out like the week from hell ended up not being so bad. That is usually how my weeks start but this week carried a little more anxiety with the initial reports of the Legend Ken Griffey JR. signing with the Braves on Tuesday. Put that on top of the 8 to 8 schedule I had on Tuesday and viola you have one stressed out person. Well around 4 on Tuesday I turned in my video for my digital arts class which was one of my biggest burdens. (Attached) Just after that class reports came in saying Griffey himself denied the earlier reports saying he signed. Talk about major relief.
Wednesday I was following ESPN and Mariners.com to see if he had made his decision between Seattle and Atlanta...nothing. So in the mean time I shot 108 film exposures for my photo class. I will upload those images after I get them back next week. (Last Critiqued Images Posted) Back to the internet and Sports Center...nothing. Kristen and I went up to a bridge over I-5 at night to take some night shots. PS Best assistant ever! Back to the world wide web...during the Hornets and Magic game I get a call from Yimdizzie saying he signed with the M's!!!

IM Basketball game that night wasn't as bad as usually we still lost to end our season as 0-5 but we played good together this week. After the game there was cause to celebrate still. So we did and you know how we do. Yimdizzie wanted to play pong  1 on 2 and I am sure you can guess how his night ended.
Yesterday was pretty low key class and advising hours and 4 hours of the dark room, I might be obsessed. Advising for the Business school is going pretty well flying solo for the most part now and feeling pretty comfortable. Next project for my two art classes is a video and getting stoked for those. One of them is going to be bringing night life to Eugene past 2am. Yes it will be posted and is going to be legit.
With the Wednesday Blazer win, the Thursday night TV show line ups, and Buffalo Wild Wings and the Blazer game tonight this week is shaping out to be a great week actually.

First Blog

So not really sure how this blogging stuff works, but I don't really think it is possible to blog wrong. Been trying to get one of these up for awhile now but Sam's newest post got me started and here I am. I will prob use this mainly to show my most recent art and photography, but also for random rants raves and shit. Little background for the title I chose for my blog, Joy Ride is a song by the Killers on their newest album called Day and Age. Great song and of course life is a joy ride, and a shot out to my friend Maley whom always sings this song with me when we are belligerent . Sorry Sam didn't mean to steal your reasoning for naming your blog, but as soon as I read yours I thought of the song and here we are.

Well tomorrow is going to suck class at eight and non-stop class, hw, projects, peer advising, and Akpsi meetings til eight. God shoot me now. But at least I can go to bed relieved that I ended my four game losing streak with the Blazers on 2k9.

And as the great Truman Burbank would say...."good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight."
